The central position of the glassworks with respect to the medieval road (via Francigena and Volterrana) encouraged the growth of glass technology to reach even the most remote places on the peninsula. The "gambassini" glasses were even produced outside the usual glassworks by the travelling glass makers of Gambassi, who were active throughout Italy from the 14th century onwards. Note the refined and modern style of these pieces.
